Recliner and Tilt-in-space wheelchairs are positioning wheelchairs designed to prevent skin damage to the user. Their functions change the user’s posture and center of gravity to relieve the constant pressure on some parts of the body.

Reclining wheelchairs repositions the user from a sitting to almost lying-down position — changing the angle of the user’s body. This change of position reduces pressure on the buttocks.

Tilt-in-Space wheelchairs only shifts its position on its frame — which is tilted backward — keeping the angle if the hips, knees and ankles. This action reduces the pressure away from the hips — there is no need to constantly readjust the user into the seated position, which also reduces the risk of developing bedsores and back pain.

Models in our rental range include (but not limited to) the Invacare 9000 XT and Tracer SX5 Recliner wheelchairs, and the Invacare Concept 45 and PDG Fuze T50 Tilt-in-space wheelchairs.
